Extraterrorestrial Alien Encounter

The purpose of this project was to create a three dimensional, game ready model based off property with limited concept work. I choose the alien from Walt Disney World's now defunct theatre show, Extraterroristial Alien Encounter. The show was a collaboration between Disney and George Lucas. It ran from 1995 in Magic Kingdom's Tomorrow Land till it was replaced with Stitches Great Escape in the fall of 2003.

My main source of reference was photos for the toy as well as different types of bugs, mostly mantises. I created two different textures for the piece. The first was a texture based on the Ghost Praying mantis. I felt like the earth tones allowed it to blend in more with the environment. In turn this highlights key features of its behavior by turning it into an ambush predator. The vibrant green texture is more inline with the toy. I decided to leave the pattern the same since I liked the idea of ambush predator, hiding in the deep foliage of the alien jungle tree tops.
